Open House Invitation – Member Email
Member email sent by Katy Culvert, Board President 2022
Hi Seminole Members,
(Quick note: The email system seems to only be sending these messages to the primary member on the account, so please forward it to others in your household)
I am writing with a special invitation. We are on course for a great season – the pool is filled, the heaters are on and the weather this weekend looks fantastic (here’s hoping that wasn’t a jinx).
As we open, we are looking forward to the future of Seminole Pool & Tennis. While it’s exciting to dream about the future, we’re also at a crossroads that calls for us to look to what’s next.
A few things make this urgent:
As you know, we suffered worse-than-normal plaster damage to the pool this winter. This tells us clearly that the replastering we did in 2014 is nearing the end of its life.
We are at full membership capacity, meaning we have extra pressure on swim and dive lessons because we don’t have enough pool “real estate” to accommodate everyone.
We have a waitlist of more than 100 families wanting to join us.
Our tennis courts have structural flaws that cause repeated cracks and fissures.
The locker, bath and shower rooms are inaccessible and suffer from flawed ventilation.
The great news is … we have a committee that’s been in motion for more than two years to envision the pool’s future and help us realize it. We call them Seminole 2.0.
I introduce you here to the two leaders of that group, Rachel Holdener and Ned Grady.
Here’s the short story: We are pedaling hard to raise money to break ground on Seminole 2.0 in fall 2023 for an opening in May 2024. (Truth be told, in talking with many people on the waitlist, I sincerely wish we could be opening with a bigger facility in May 2023!)
None of this is going to happen without all of us as members. We’re going to have opportunities for volunteering, planning, marketing and raising the funds we need.
We are officially kicking off this effort with a celebration and open house at the pool on Memorial Day from 1-3 p.m. Please join us to hear about how far we’ve come in planning and where we’re headed.
I’ll be honest. Big plans require big effort. But in all my years in this wonderful Seminole community, I’ve always known us to rise to whatever is needed.
I hope to see all of you on May 30!
Onward, Seminole!
