MARCH UPDATES AND EVENTS - Member Email: Friday, March 21, 2025

Hello Seminole Families,

We have so many exciting things to share from the Seminole 2.0 Fundraising Event Committee - it has been a busy two weeks. Apologies in advance for the very lengthy email, but it has so much useful information, so we encourage you to please take the time to read it when you have a chance.

As we continue fundraising, we understand that some members may be uncertain about the status and direction of the Seminole 2.0 effort. To keep you informed, a Seminole 2.0 committee member will be available at many upcoming events to share updates and answer any questions you may have. Events with a Seminole 2.0 representative on hand are marked with blue highlighted text—so bring your questions! Based on your feedback, we may also schedule a separate open house.

Seminole Ice Skating Event
Now, on to our first family outing - Seminole Swimmers on Ice (obviously all the Seminole tennis families are included, but that didn’t sound as catchy). The Verona Ice Arena donated time on their new ice rink for a dedicated, Seminole only event, so bring your kids or grandkids, bring yourselves (yes, grown-ups can skate too), bring some cash and get ready for a great time. The flyer is attached below, but here is the need-to-know information:

  • Friday April 18th 5:30-7:30 pm

  • $15 per individual OR $50 per family with a pay ahead discount of $40 per family if you register by April 13th. This includes skate rental, ice time and raffle tickets (5 tickets if individual and 20 tickets if family). Click here to register or scan QR code on this flyer.

  • There will be Glass Nickel Pizza and other snacks available for purchase. Cash/check preferred.

  • We have some fun raffle prizes already available including tickets to the Madison Capitols, but will be reaching out about basket/prize donations soon. Extra raffle tickets can be purchased at the event.

Seminole Pool & Tennis Apparel
Our other new endeavor is new availability for Seminole clothing/gear for all Seminole members. Simply Swimming has worked with us to create options for everyone this year, including great choices for our tennis members. Note: this is NOT the ordering for Swim/Dive Team apparel - that will be sent separately.

  • Orders can be placed using this link - the first round of orders will close April 9th and they will be available for pick up at the New Member Open House May 23rd, or separate pick up can be arranged earlier if desired.

  • One thing to note - we acknowledge that the towel is on the pricey side, but the team at Simply Swimming says it’s one of the best towels out there and well worth the investment (and it’s cool to have it personalized - makes it easier to claim in the lost and found).

  • A portion of each purchase comes back directly to Seminole 2.0. Happy shopping: https://simplyswimming.net/seminolepooltennisclub

Restaurant Night Updates

  • Our next restaurant night is at Hop Haus Fitchburg right down the road from the pool on Monday April 14th

    • Seminole 2.0 will get 10% back of all orders placed between 4-8 pm (dine-in, carry out, and gift card or merchandise purchases, so even if you don’t have time to eat that day, grab a gift card).

  • We had a very successful restaurant night with Glass Nickel Pizza earlier this month and raised $600. The owner was very impressed with the engagement and actually was called in to help because it was so busy (and apologies if anyone wasn’t able to place an order through the phone - we heard that some people were on hold for a very long time!).

Seminole Rummage Sale

  •  Dates of the sale are May 2nd and 3rd. While this is still about 6 weeks away, we need to be sure that we will have enough volunteers, so please take the time to sign up now using this SignUp Genius. We can’t pull this off without you.

  • We’ve had such a great turn out at our drop offs that Madison Verona Self Storage is graciously donating us a second unit to use because the first is already full! We have two more drop off times scheduled - Sunday April 6th from 2:30-4 pm and Thursday April 17th from 5-6:30 pm. Here are the directions for the drop off:

    • Location is the Madison Verona Self Storage Facility (4201 Maple Grove Drive). Someone will meet you at the gate to enter the code to let your vehicle in - just let them know you're there for the Seminole Drop off.

    • We have units #1620 &1621. See this attached map for where the unit is located - it is shaded in blue.

    • If you are hoping to bring something large (furniture or similar), please let us know ahead of time as we may not have room to store it right away. If these dates don't work for you and you'd like to get rid of your items before the next drop off, please reach out and we can try to make alternative arrangements.

    • Free to help us sort/organize during these drop-offs, please send us an email. We can use more hands.

Reminder to sign up to volunteer for a shift during the rummage sale on our SignUp Genius!

Silent Auction for Seminole 2.0
We are gearing up for our first Silent Auction for Seminole 2.0!

  • We will be using an online platform and plan to start the auction May 5 and close on May 22.

  • We have been working hard to obtain donations from many local businesses, but if you have items or talents to offer, please be in touch. We’ve heard from a few of you with some great options.

    • If you have a connection to a local business and feel comfortable asking on our behalf, that is appreciated. We can share the letter we’ve been using for our formal requests if that is helpful.

  • Just a teaser that we expect some of the most popular items to be the reserved front row parking spots for home swim meets and reserved pool deck chairs for weekend nights! Get ready to outbid your neighbors.

Finally, we are continuing to work hard to encourage members to look into Raise Right

  • This is a great way to funnel money that you are already spending back to Seminole with very minimal effort and minimal extra cost (about 25 cents if you use ACH payment).

  • Did you know that many travel sites are options through Raise Right - we’ve had some members buy a gift card to book their spring break or summer vacations. These are big purchases where a percentage back adds up! See this flyer for more specific information.

  • We have physical gift cards available to purchase at face value at many upcoming events so be sure to see what we have - cash or check is preferred, but Venmo is also an option. Examples are Kwik Trip, Pizza Ranch and Total Wine.

Other dates to note with more information to come:

  • Thursday, May 8th – Toot & Kate’s night - bring your friends and enjoy some wine.

  • Sunday, July 20th – Seminole Pool goes to the Duck Pond with an outing at the Madison Mallards.

As always, if you have QUESTIONS OR WANT TO JOIN US, send us a message - we’d love to hear from you. We are a small crew and could use your help: carleenh@seminole26-5.org.

Cheers,
