SEMINOLE 2.0 SURVEY REQUEST AND UPDATE

Dear Seminole Members,

To determine the next steps for the Seminole 2.0 project, the committee would like to gather input from current members. With our current funds raised significantly below the targeted goal, we are at a fork in the road. There are 3 potential paths forward, and we want to gauge members’ preferences with how to proceed.

Take the survey here.

The survey only takes about 5 minutes. Your feedback is essential in helping us decide the best path forward for the future of Seminole.

Our committee focus this summer has been on exploring a phased approach to construction—a complex and time-consuming process that has required substantial effort and attention. We’ve been working diligently to determine if this option is viable, what the costs would entail, and how it could impact both the current and future use of the facility.

At the same time, we’ve pursued some big asks from corporate donors and foundations, targeting contributions in the $100,000+ range. While these efforts haven’t yielded results yet and likely won’t be our main source of funding, we’re still trying. The reality is that the bulk of fundraising will ultimately need to come from our members, their volunteer time, and the connections they may have.

Currently, we have a significant fundraising gap of approximately $2.9M for the full buildout plan, which, to help you make sense of that large number, would be about $5k per family of 4. This is a large amount, and we understand that it may seem daunting, but we believe it’s important to be transparent about where we stand and what’s needed to make this project a reality.

The potential phased approach to construction would allow us to start rebuilding our facility in stages rather than waiting until all the funds are secured for a full buildout. While we believe it could be a viable option and would be an improvement in some respects, it’s important to understand that it’s not without its drawbacks, including the siting of a new pool house relative to the current pool.

While we’ve made progress, there is still a long road ahead, and your engagement and support are more critical now than ever. Thank you for being part of this community and for your continued involvement in Seminole 2.0.

Sincerely,

Rachel Holdener

Chair, Seminole 2.0 Committee
